Class Overview:

The MODTAC 3-Day Long Range Course was designed to get new and experienced shooters a sniper school type education packed into 24 hours of instruction.

As with all MODTAC Training courses, we will start with the fundamentals, and
build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for shooting long range. Weather you are
a seasoned police sniper looking for an annual train-up, or brand new to shooting, during
this course, you’ll get lots of one-on-one attention, and walk away with vast knowledge
and lots of experience in long range shooting.

This course will cover a wide range of topics including but not limited to, rifle and scope
set up, introduction to multiple shooting platforms and associated equipment, MIL vs
MOA explanation, muzzle velocity, external ballistics, flight path, wind calls, shooting
fundamentals, positional shooting, and shooter/spotter conversation.

Over the 24 hours of instruction, there will be approximately 6 hours of classroom time, 2-
3 hours of practical exercise, and 17+ hours of shooting.

This course is taught by instructor Dave Mason from MODTAC Training Group.

Notes:
Because this course only shoots out to 600 yards, magnum rounds are allowed but are
excessive for this course. Rounds up to .300 Norma or .338 are allowed, but will beat you
up after shooting 200-300 rounds over the course of 3 days, therefore they are not
recommended

*MIL/MOA: I prefer to teach my courses with Milliradian (mil-dot) scopes. During the
course I will explain the difference between the two, and the advantages of each. I’m not
saying that MIL is the only way, but you’ll see distinct advantages of using Milliradian
scopes the more you get into long distance shooting.

*Ammunition: When purchasing ammo for this course it is important to buy all 300 rounds
of the same type of ammunition. Same brand and weight of projectile. Furthermore, its
important to buy ammo all out of the same lot. Purchasing ammo from the same lot will
ensure that you get a more consistent muzzle velocity, which is vital to consistent
shooting at distance. The course will go more in depth about this aspect of long-range
shooting.
